Frequently asked questions
The questions businesses ask us about heavy equipment financing. For yours, call (514) 648-8487, Monday to Friday.
Financing
Lease or loan: which should I choose?
With a lease, your business rents the equipment and can buy it at the end of the term through a buyout value. Payments are usually lower, and sales taxes are added to each payment. With a loan, you own the equipment from day one. The right choice depends on your tax situation and your goals: check it with your accountant.

Can we get financing with a difficult credit file?

Is there a minimum or maximum amount to finance?

Are lease payments tax-deductible?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
Can payments follow a season?
Some lenders offer structures suited to seasonal businesses. Conditions vary by lender and by file, and we will tell you what applies to yours.
Is a down payment required?
It depends on the lender, the type of equipment and your business profile. Some files close without a down payment, others require one. We tell you after reviewing your situation.
Do you finance used equipment?
Yes. We finance used trucks, trailers and machinery, bought from a dealer or a private seller. Each lender has its own age and mileage criteria.
What documents do we need to provide?
It varies by lender and by how long your business has been operating. Generally: information about the business, the equipment you are looking at and its price. One call is enough to know exactly what applies to your file.
How much does a quote cost?
Nothing. The quote is free and without commitment.
Is the estimate rate the rate I will get?
The estimate applies an indicative rate based on the amount financed. The actual rate is set when your file is approved, based on your business and the equipment involved.
What is a pre-approval for?
It tells you in advance how much you can finance. You shop with a clear budget, and you are ready to close as soon as you find the right equipment. See pre-approval.
Can you find the truck for us?
Yes. Tell us what you need: we search for your next piece of equipment, check it and finance it. See equipment sourcing.
Do you finance equipment bought outside the country?
Yes. We help with the equipment import and customs clearance process, in addition to financing it.
Do you finance businesses outside Québec?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.
Do you also finance working capital or a building purchase?
Yes. To support your business growth, or during a turnaround, we also help with working capital and building purchase needs. Call us to discuss it.
Fleets
Can you finance several trucks in the same file?
Yes. Depending on the lender, the equipment in a fleet can be grouped in a single financing or financed separately. Call us to discuss it.
Can one of our drivers buy back their truck?
Yes. Because financing is involved, the sale must go through a dealer holding a SAAQ licence, which is our role. Your business receives the sale price, and your driver leaves as the owner with their financing. See accommodation sales.
Our driver is starting a business: can they be financed?
Yes. A new business has no financial history yet, so the choice of lender matters even more: that is our job. For permits and registration, Lavoie Transit, our sister company, supports new drivers as they get started.
Refinancing and repairs
Can equipment that is still financed be refinanced?
Yes, depending on the remaining balance. Fully paid equipment offers the most room, and equipment still under financing can also be considered. See refinancing.
What share of the value can be refinanced?
It varies from one lender to another, based on the type, age and market value of the equipment. We compare lenders and present the one whose conditions best match your situation.
Can you appraise our equipment?
Yes. We help you appraise your equipment, for example before a refinancing.
Which repairs can be financed?
Major repairs on trucks and machinery: engine, transmission, differential, body, frame, hydraulics, work required to pass a mechanical inspection, or reconditioning of recently purchased used equipment. See repair financing.
Accommodation sales
Why is an accommodation sale mandatory?
In Québec, when the sale of a vehicle or equipment includes financing or refinancing, the law requires it to go through a dealer holding a valid licence. The dealer completes the documents required for the buyer to register the vehicle. See accommodation sales.
What is the RDPRM?
The Register of Personal and Movable Real Rights (RDPRM) is Québec's public register where the rights a creditor holds on property are recorded. An RDPRM search reveals whether a piece of equipment carries a debt, and protects both the buyer and the seller.
